Tra-digital Illustrator

Kim is no stranger to the present day conundrum — digital or traditional? There is something satisfying about the tactile experience derived from working with paper, pencil, paint and various art supplies. It’s raw and authentic, the foundational methods with which Kim learned to illustrate. Still, the magical automated qualities of digital media cross barriers and allow for combinations of techniques, a level of forgiveness and efficiency that traditional work doesn't. Kim embraces both. She prefers to sketch and drawing her ideas in pencil on paper, then digitally colorizing her compositions. So — to borrow a phrase from Catia Chien — Kim is a “Tra-digital” illustrator
